Following Alan Goodman’s briefing see below Environment Agency brief impact assessment re potential effects on rivers and the coast.
Today’s Flood Guidance Statement is GREEN (very low risk) for all sources of flooding for today (Thursday), and is YELLOW (low risk) for Friday and Saturday for Lancashire and Cumbria.
Coastal Flood Alerts are expected to be issued where appropriate in Cumbria. Operational activity is anticipated in several locations. No fluvial (river) issues are anticipated. There may be some local minor disruption due to surface water.
Friday and Saturday: Heavy rainfall may cause minor disruption from rivers and surface water in Lancashire and Cumbria.

Coastal (Green): There is a possibility of severe gales along the coast with an associated surge. Astronomical tides are not very high.
River and surface water (Yellow (Low risk) in Lancashire and Cumbria): Although heavy rainfall is expected somewhere along the western parts of England and Wales, there is considerable uncertainty as to the location of the heaviest rainfall, which is currently forecast as around 60mm.
