Let’s first deal with the winds today, the strongest of which will shortly exit stage east. Gusts of 50-60mph have been recorded, mainly
along the coast and over higher ground, much in line with expectations. Resulting impacts appear to have been relatively minimal.

Persistent and heavy rainfall has been forecast for Wednesday 10th August and Thursday 11th August, beginning in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The risk from river flooding is low as there is not much water in the rivers. However there is a risk of surface water flooding. The rain is predicted to fall on the Western fells. Please be alert for blocked drains and be prepared to clear any debris.
